Reuben’s Roost is a cosy and comfortable 3 bedroomed luxury barn conversion situated around a lovely courtyard on our working farm which is home to Dovedale Animal Sanctuary where we have rescued alpacas, goats and a number of other farm animals.
The farm is situated in the white peak area of the Peak District and nestled between Dovedale and the Manifold Rivers and is a perfect base for exploring all the Peak District has to offer, with stunning walks straight from the door and a range of great local pubs, country houses and fantastic walks and bike trails to discover.
You’ll find this cottage full of character with luxury furnishings, exposed beams and antiques as well as all the amenities you need for a lovely relaxing break away in this stunning part of the world.
With three bedrooms sleeping 7 + guests, as well as stunning mezzanine balcony with a sofa bed, Reuben’s Roost it is a perfect get away for family and friends. You can also pair this cottage with Hope’s Hideaway or Bremen’s barn to accommodate for large groups as a party house, alternatively during Covid and the rule of six regulations, we have reduced our prices for up to six guests.
On the ground floor is the main living and dining room under large high vaulted stunning roof with exposed beams and trusses, from here you can access the open mezzanine area above, which has a sofa bed and is a lovely snuggle area for looking down into the room below! The sitting room has comfortable sofas around a flame gas fireplace that is great for cosy winter evenings. This room is furnished with antiques and the dining table is a beautiful old pine which easily seats 10. From this room you can access the kitchen that has all the amenities you need, including an under-counter fridge, a freezer, a dishwater and electric cooker as well as all the crockery and items you need for a break away.
Further down the hallway on the ground floor you will find a beautiful large double bedroom with a stunning bed and lovely furnishings, this bedroom is close to the downstairs bathroom which has a bath as well as a walk-in shower.
Up a flight of wooden stairs leads to two bedrooms, on the left to a lovely sunny double room with pretty furnishings and a toddler bed in the cupboard! The other bedroom to the right is under the eaves and has exposed trusses and beams, so you’ll need to duck if you are tall, in this room you will find a small double bed and a single. The room has a large gable window overlooking the sitting room!
This cottage has its own hot water and central heating and there is a separate laundry room on site with a washing machine that guests are welcome to use. All the permanent beds are made up to welcome you and we provide a travel cot and highchairs.
There is a TV DVD which is connected to free-sat and there are a selection of DVDs to enjoy. The farm has Wi-Fi in the cottage and onsite, however the farm is remote so please be aware that the internet can be slow at times. Therefore, bring some board games and spend time together and go back in time for a few days.
We provide a little welcome pack of necessities to get you going but please be aware that all our accommodation is self-catering and you will need to provide all of your toiletries as well as all your food and provisions.
Reuben’s Roost is often hired for group bookings but is also perfect as a standalone cottage. It is self-catering and completely private. You have your own parking areas as well as outside seating, dining and BBQ area.
The enclosed gardens are shared with the courtyard properties and we also mow a couple of fields for games and there are plenty of quiet areas as well as lots of space around the farm for our guests to use. You are also welcome to explore the fields, wood, pond and other farm areas and we encourage you to make yourselves at home during your stay.
If you look at the “helpful information page” you will find a wealth of information to help you, this includes things to do, places to visit and details of local pubs, takeout’s and restaurants as well as recommendations for extra activities. We are always happy to help and if you would like us to reserve a table at one of our local pubs or restaurants, we are very happy to do that.
Please don’t forget your walking boots and wellies as there are stunning walks straight from the door. The areas surrounding us are beautiful and the farm borders National Trust land, we are close to Chatsworth House and Alton Towers as well as many scenic routes and places of interest.
Pets are welcome in Reuben’s Roost and we have two mini labradoodles and in addition the farm is home to Dovedale Animal Sanctuary. All our animals have been rescued and we have alpacas, goats, ponies, sheep and a number of ducks, chickens and geese that you are welcome to go and say hello to and hopefully feed during your stay! Plus, if our hens are laying then you are welcome to collect free-range farm eggs from the hen house! First dibs!
