Bremen’s Barn at Lower Damgate Farm

Bremen’s Barn is a warm and welcoming 4 bedroomed luxury barn conversion situated around a lovely courtyard on our working farm which is home to Dovedale Animal Sanctuary where we have rescued alpacas, goats and a number of other farm animals. Guests are welcome to come and meet the animals and we always have a bucket of food around for you to join in at feeding time.
Lower Damgate Farm is situated in the southern white peak area of the Peak District National Park. Nestled between Dovedale and the Manifold Rivers with stunning far reaching views the farm is a perfect base for exploring the Peak District and surrounding countryside. There are many amazing walks straight from the door and a range of great local pubs, country houses and fantastic walks and bike trails to discover.
With four bedrooms sleeping 8 + guests, You’ll find this cottage full of character with exposed beams and tasteful furnishings as well as all the amenities you need for a lovely relaxing break away in this stunning part of the world.
Bremen’s Barn is an upside-down house which makes use of the whole top floor where nested under the eaves and with exposed beams and trusses you will find the lovely open plan kitchen, dining and living room areas. Fitted with luxury furnishings, antiques and large comfy sofas, it is a perfect setting to relax in after a day exploring the Peak District and surrounding area. From the roof lights you can see high over the fields and farm with brilliant views over the hills beyond.
The kitchen has all the amenities you need, including two under counter fridges, a freezer, a dishwater and electric cooker as well as all the crockery and items for a break away. On the same level and past the antique settle on the landing you will find an upstairs double bedroom (the green room) with exposed beams and trusses as well as an occasional single chair bed for a toddler or small person!
The other bedrooms are all on the ground floor, at the end of the hallway is a beautiful four poster bedroom, with large antique mirrors and luxury furnishing as well as a small sofa bed for occasional use.  Next door to this room is a small double bedroom as well as one of the bathrooms with a full bath that you can soak in.
Further down the landing and past the unusual pony and trap seat, you will find another bathroom with a shower cubicle, as well as a is beautiful large double bedroom with luxury drapes over the bed and antique furniture.
Completely standalone this cottage sleeps 8 plus guests and has its own amenities, including central heating, Hot water, Wifi and a smart TV. There is a separate laundry room on site with a washing machine and we can provide a travel cot and highchairs.
We provide a little welcome pack of necessities to get you going but please be aware that all our accommodation is self-catering and you will need to provide all of your toiletries as well as all your food and provisions and towels.
Bremen’s Barn works well on its own but can also be hired for group bookings and as it is central to the courtyard properties works with Hope’s Hideaway or Reuben’s Roost  or both.
As a cottage in itself it is completely private. You have your own parking areas as well as outside seating, dining and BBQ area. The enclosed gardens are shared with the courtyard properties and we also mow a couple of fields for games and there are plenty of quiet areas as well as lots of space around the farm for our guests to use. So, if privacy is what you want then there are lots of places on the farm to find it.
Our policy is that nothing is a problem and all guests are  welcome to explore the fields, wood, pond and other farm areas and we encourage you to make yourselves at home during your stay.
If you look at the “helpful information page” you will find a wealth of information to help you, this includes things to do, places to visit and details of local pubs, takeout’s and restaurants as well as recommendations for extra activities. We are always happy to help and if you would like us to reserve a table at one of our local pubs or restaurants, we are very happy to do that. Chatsworth House and Alton Towers are both close enough to enjoy a day out. The local towns of Ashbourne, Bakewell and Buxton are from 15-20 minutes’ drive away and all provide excellent shopping and tourist facilities.
Please don’t forget your walking boots and wellies as there are stunning walks straight from the door. The lands surrounding us are beautiful and the farm borders National Trust land, Dovedale is only a short stroll down the valley as is Thors Cave and there are many stunning walks both by foot or a short journey by car to go and explore.
The Farm is also Home to Dovedale Animal Sanctuary and we lend ourselves to guests who love animals and would like to come meet and greet them as well as join us when we invite you to help us feed them! It is always good to bring a spare carrot and apple or two as they are rather greedy, you can then collect eggs for breakfast though the hens may join you as they all roam around the farm.  All 100 or so animals at the farm are rescued, except Ozzi-bear one of our own dogs, and you are welcome to bring your own pet to join you on your holiday and we are sure they would love to explore the area just as much as you will.
If you would like to get away from it all and stay on our lovely farm, meet our alpacas, goats, ponies and sheep as well as all the ducks, chickens and geese you’d be very welcome and we would love to meet you and welcome you to the farm for any occasion.
We look forward to meeting you.
