Purdy’s Place is a lovely cosy cottage close to Dovedale and is part of the C16th farmhouse at Lower Damgate Farm. Comfortably sleeping 2 to 4 guests in two bedrooms, it is full of character with beamed ceilings, rustic furniture, and comfy beds.
The top floor has a double bedroom with a sink and luxurious slipper bath and the first floor has a twin bedroom next to the bathroom with walk in shower.
The ground floor has an open plan kitchen, dining and sitting room with a fireplace. Though small the kitchen area has everything you need to self-cater, however it doesn’t have dishwasher.
Outside there is a small patio, as well as an enclosed Hot tub area with outside seating that has lovely views across the house garden and fields.
In addition, there are 22 acres of grounds for guests to enjoy which include fields and paddocks which are perfect for playing games as well as woods and a pond area where you can relax or go and feed the ducks and chickens.
There is also a large communal area where you can use the firepit and watch the sunsets. All guests are welcome to explore the farm and pet or feed the rescued animals, especially our cheeky goats and alpacas.
Every Booking supports the animals at Dovedale Animal Sanctuary and every animal on the farm (apart from Ozzi-Bear our dog) is rescued.
Guests often go and say hello and feed our resident alpacas and goats, as well going to collect eggs from the hen house and feeding the Ducks and Geese.
We lend ourselves to guests who love animals as our cheeky goats and alpacas love to come and say hello especially to those who have apple or a carrot or two!
Lower Damgate Farm is very rural and private, the views are stunning from the farm, and you can walk directly to Dovedale, the Manifold valley and surrounding areas without the need of car. Locally we are situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the Peak District, nestled between the Rivers Dove and Manifold with local villages of Ilam, Wetton and Alstonefield close by.
The farm is surrounded by National Trust land and Ilam Park and tea rooms is just down the hill. Plus, we have loads of space on the farm, and though there are a couple of other holiday cottages, these are away from the farmhouse and your space is completely private to you.
Our aim is to make is as comfortable and special as we can for all our guests so they can relax unwind, feed the animals, and enjoy this part of the Peak Park and all it has to offer.
Please feel free to call us 01335 310367 or 07779210791 as we are always happy to help and look forward to welcoming you soon.
