Purdy’s Place is a lovely 2 bedroomed annex and part of the C15th Century Farmhouse . It has been sympathetically renovated with the existing house and retains all the original beams and flagged floors of this beautiful farmhouse which stands on the site of a Viking longhouse. It has its own entrance and is completely self-catering with all the facilities you need for a lovely stay away. Situated on our working farm which is home to Dovedale Animal Sanctuary where we have rescued alpacas, goats and a number of other farm animals, guests are welcome to come and meet the animals and we always have a bucket of food around for you to join in at feeding time.

Lower Damgate Farm is situated in the white peak area of the Peak District and nestled between Dovedale and the Manifold Rivers and is a perfect base for exploring the Peak District and surrounding countryside, there are stunning walks straight from the door and a range of great local pubs, country houses and fantastic walks and bike trails to discover.

With two bedrooms sleeping 4 + 1 guest, You’ll find this cottage full of character with exposed beams and tasteful furnishings as well as all the amenities you need for a lovely relaxing break away in this stunning part of the world.

The cottage has three floors and you walk straight into the ground floor with exposed beams and a beautiful stone flagged floor. Here you will find an open plan kitchen, dining and living area with comfy sofas and a warm fire perfect setting to relax in after a day exploring the Peak District and surrounding area.

The kitchen is quaint has all the amenities you need, including a fridge freezer, gas cooker as well as all the crockery and items needed for a break away. The wooden staircase leads up to the first floor where you will find a twin bedroom that has a little Juliette balcony overlooking the west side of the farm and views beyond. Sunsets are fantastic from this cottage. Also on this floor is a beautiful bathroom with walk in shower. Leading off from the hallway is another staircase which goes into the top double bedroom above. Here you will find a lovely iron double bed as well as a deep slipper bath where you can relax after a long walk with your favourite drink. In addition there is also a small pull out bed for a small person or child.

The cottage is connected to the farm house but it has its own amenities and it not shared in any way. Included is central heating, Hot water, Wifi and a smart TV. There is a separate laundry room on site with a washing machine and we can provide a travel cot and highchairs.

We provide a little welcome pack of necessities to get you going but please be aware that all our accommodation is self-catering and you will need to provide all of your toiletries as well as all your food and provisions and towels.

You have your own parking area as well as outside seating, dining and BBQ area. The farm grounds are shared with the courtyard properties and we also mow a couple of fields for games and there are plenty of quiet areas as well as lots of space around the farm for our guests to use. So, if privacy is what you want then there are lots of places on the farm to find it.

Our policy is that nothing is a problem and all guests are  welcome to explore the fields, wood, pond and other farm areas and we encourage you to make yourselves at home during your stay.

If you look at the “helpful information page” you will find a wealth of information to help you, this includes things to do, places to visit and details of local pubs, takeout’s and restaurants as well as recommendations for extra activities. We are always happy to help and if you would like us to reserve a table at one of our local pubs or restaurants, we are very happy to do that. Chatsworth House and Alton Towers are both close enough to enjoy a day out. The local towns of Ashbourne, Bakewell and Buxton are from 15-20 minutes’ drive away and all provide excellent shopping and tourist facilities.

Please don’t forget your walking boots and wellies as there are stunning walks straight from the door. The lands surrounding us are beautiful and the farm borders National Trust land, Dovedale is only a short stroll down the valley as is Thors Cave and there are many stunning walks both by foot or a short journey by car to go and explore.

The Farm is also Home to Dovedale Animal Sanctuary and we lend ourselves to guests who love animals and would like to come meet and greet them as well as join us when we invite you to help us feed them! It is always good to bring a spare carrot and apple or two as they are rather greedy, you can then collect eggs for breakfast though the hens may join you as they all roam around the farm.  All 100 or so animals at the farm are rescued, except Ozzi-bear one of our own dogs, and you are welcome to bring your own pet to join you on your holiday and we are sure they would love to explore the area just as much as you will.

If you would like to get away from it all and stay on our lovely farm, meet our alpacas, goats, ponies and sheep as well as all the ducks, chickens and geese you’d be very welcome and we would love to meet you and welcome you to the farm for any occasion.
