However if you would then like an outside blessing you are very welcome, and you can have it where you like, even at the very top of our hill with the stunning views this offers. Alternatively we have a wood at Bloor Pastures (Dovedale View). The wood is in a beautiful location with parking and overlooks, Dovedale, Ilam, Thorpe Cloud and Bunster (the hills above Ilam towards the farm) we have been told that this is one of the most spectacular views in the area
Blessings – Accredited Celebrant Marion Beloe. – PeakBlessings.co.uk on 01335 310253 or email email@example.com
Marion only lives a mile from the farm and is one of those special people in life that is so in tune with you that she creates a complete bespoke and inspiring occasion. Every blessing is unique and quite amazing, completely tailored to you. Marion takes time to get to know you personally (often meeting at the farm) and manages to create a blessing that celebrates your love for each other and those around you (Marion is also our church warden and clerk to the vicar see below)
Hannah is also one of those special people in life who oozes kindness and vitality and making any occasion she touches enchanting and wonderful. Hannah designs entirely bespoke and original wedding ceremonies for couples who want something more than a little bit special for their wedding day. They are non-religious and inspired entirely by the people at their centre and so she would work with you to create an irreplaceable experience that will celebrate your love, your way. They’re not ‘alternative’, nor do they involve beards/chanting/robes or anything that would make your grandmother uncomfortable. They’re simply the wedding ceremony everyone should have a chance of having…
Alternatively our guests can marry at Ilam Church which is situated in a stunning setting in the village overlooking Thorpe Cloud and Dovedale, in the grounds of Ilam Hall by the River.
Ilam or Alstonefield Churches – Clerk to the Vicar Marion Beloe on 01335 310253 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Getting married in one of our local churches is actually a simple procedure, if you have any connection with a Christian church in any way and are happy to visit on a monthly basis for banns being read (Ilam only has a monthly service) then our vicar is happy to marry you.
Ilam Church and Alstonefield Church are both just 1.5 miles away.
Ilam Church is within our parish and I think one of the prettiest churches in England, It is an Anglo Saxon church and there are three Saxon crosses in the churchyard. There is also a triagonal section where Jess Watts Russell (who owned Ilam Hall) built a monument to honour his wife Mary. The church is just set back from the River in the grounds of NT Ilam Park with the views of Thorpe Cloud (entrance to Dovedale) in the distance; this church is an idyllic place to hold your wedding ceremony and gives the feel of being set in the times of Pride and Prejudice.
Alstonefield Church is larger and grander but nerveless a lovely old English village church and you can often hear the bells peeling away on a Sunday. Our vicar who resides over both the churches above lives in the New Rectory just next door to this church.
Both churches are stunning and well worth a visit; however most of my guests marry in Ilam Church.
There is a Qualifying criterion for getting married in church if you can show the one of you:
Was baptised (Christened) in the parish concerned or
Was prepared for confirmation in the parish or
Has at any time regularly gone to normal church services in the parish for a period of at least six months **
Has lived in the parish for a period of six months or
Has regularly gone to normal church services in the parish for a period of six months **
** If you attend the Parish church’s usual services at least once a month for a minimum of six months you will qualify to get married in the church you attend the services in. However at least one of the couple, must have been baptised in the Christian faith to qualify.
Our catering recommendations are not finite and you are welcome to use any caterers who you like as long as they meet and sign our catering terms and conditions. We do NOT take any commission for the services we recommend however with caterers it is expected that they cater for staff and suppliers who are with you for the day; this is normal practice at weddings.
Please note that all the local supermarkets deliver to the farm. You will need to be here to sign for everything but this is a popular option for guests, or use Peakdistrictdeli.com for local produce.
WE CAN PROVIDE A TEA AND COFFEE STATION FOR YOU, THIS INCLUDE CUPS AND SAUCERS PLUS TEA AND COFFEE. PLEASE ENQUIRE FOR DETAILS.
Cameron Jack – Hog Roasts – Buffets – BBQ’s – Dinners – Canapé’s – Puddings – everything
Tel: 07584 200 567 (Please WHATSAPP Cameron as this is the best way to get hold of him)
Cameron comes very highly recommended and is our preferred Hog Roast, BBQ, and HOT comfort food person, Chilli, Pie, Meat and Veg etc. He will cook anything you ask and he is so good that I used him for my own birthday party …. We painted the pig Gold (don’t ask!). Genuinely he is such a lovely person and will endeavour to achieve what you ask, very honest and reasonable. Many of our guests book Cameron so I recommend you book early! This is also his hobby as he owns and runs a garden nursery but would much rather cook! His attitude to everything in life is ‘relaxed’ but he delivers 100% every time. Please WhatsApp him as he’s a technophobe!
Cameron mainly caters for large groups, BBQs and Weddings. He comes with a big pink hog roast cooking barrel, he made it to look like a pig and of course it cooks a pig on site so you know it is fresh and ready to go. There are always veggie options and or anything you want to be honest! His canapes and puddings are also wonderful though you must chase him as he is very busy!
However he is very reasonably priced as well of going out of his way to make you feel special. You will love his food but also his amazing puddings J
Dawn Rudd Catering – Tel 07715530784 or 01335 370011 email: email@example.com 2-30 – Cottage Guests and up to 100 guests for weddings
Dawn is really very lovely and nothing is a problem for her and your event. She has provided bespoke mouth-watering food for so many of our guests and the guest book is full of fantastic comments. Perfect for large or small gatherings, Luncheons, Dinner parties, small weddings and canapés or just sandwiches, cakes and high tea. I have known Dawn offer so many dishes and will certainly try to accommodate your catering wishes as much as she can. There is so much choice and her food is mouth-watering and her attention to detail is the best there is.
This is a fabulous idea and run by the girls at the old Village stores in Hartington. One of the best pizzas I’ve ever had and the layout, choice and service is amazing. Definitely worth the unique factor that these girls go to, it’s above and beyond plus the Pizzas and food are scrumptious. The Pizzas are made on site in an old converted Horse Box. You can have any choice, plus Laura and Anna do other food as well …. Prices are really reasonable and menus range from simple to flare! They even have a lower Damgate Pizza! Really worth looking at and I just know you won’t be disappointed, we never have been.
Peak District Deli – Lauren Tel: 07935 070147 www.peakdistrictdeli.com email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Lauren is such a lovely person and she has the same ethos as we do in so much that nothing is a problem. I hardly know where to begin with the food she offers along with her husband Ralph who is an exceptional chef. From big table platters, home cooked food, afternoon teas, specialist ideas including every taste imaginable, Meat, veggie, vegan, celiac, everything is catered for from street food to good home cooked food…..this duo do it all and they do it well.
You can also shop for locally produced foods on their website to have delivered to the farm waiting for your arrival, all unpacked and ready to go. We use them regularly and hope you do too.
Tabby at mode4events. Email: email@example.com Tel: 07901 672598 Tel: 07846 996597 www.modeforevents.co.uk
Another fabby foodie and a firm favourite of ours at Lower Damgate Farm. Tabby started catering by hosting her own wedding and doing it herself. (You can always do that!) Tabby’s attitude is similar to ours and her relaxed approach refreshing. As an exclusive cook for a few other venues tabby may not always be available but she tries her hardest for us, so please look her up.

They have the very best life which accounts for so much in our book.
Joanna lives a mile away and can deliver directly to the farm in any quantities small or large depending upon your number.
Fish and Chips for Late night supper, Market Place, Ashbourne DE6 1EU, Tel 01335 344780
This is an extremely good takeaway in the middle of Ashbourne; they will deliver if the order is high enough.
Sometimes guests like the old fashioned fish and chips late into the evening. The market place fish and chip shop will wrap fish or sausages plus chips in individual servings, deliver and leave for us to serve. Perfect! And they are still hot at the end of the evening!
Dodson’s Mobile Fish and Chips – http://www.dodsonsfreshcatch.co.uk
Puddings, Sweets, Cakes & Ice Cream!
One of the cheapest and loveliest ways to provide puddings other than your wedding cake (whatever type it is!) Is to ask your guests to bring a pudding or cake and have a “Bake Off”
From our experience guests like to feel that they have contributed.
We also have an old market barrow on wheels which is beautiful and very useful for a “sweet cart” or to place you cake on.
The Pudding Room – Angie Cooper Tel – 01629 540413 – Carsington Nr Ashbourne. Mob 07866415030

Please say you are staying here and you will be treated really well. I am happy to book for you; with large numbers it is preferable if you book in advance, to avoid disappointment.
1 mile – The Watts Russell at Hopedale. Bruce and Christine 01335 310126. www.wattsrussell.co.uk
Slightly less than 1 mile, between Stanshope and Alstonefield – Turn Right out of the Farm Drive, or walk to Hall dale and down into Hopedale where the pub lies.
Please call them to see if the pub is open as they have unusual opening hours! However Bruce and Christine are very welcoming and will happily cater for large groups, book if you can but you can also turn up (if they are open!) The pub is a little quirky and rustic! It is a free house and beer is sourced locally. Bruce cooks all his food from scratch and if you are fussy with your food then he will accommodate you as much as he can. Though he is not a pie and chips person! The pub sometimes closes early or is not open! If you ring in advance then he will definitely open for you and they are quite happy for you to “take over” the pub. This pub is like marmite! You either love it or hate it!
1 Mile – The Manifold Tea Rooms at Ilam. Open daily most of the year call for details 01335 350245
Manifold Tearooms at Ilam Park sells a wonderful array of food and drink. If you sit outside you have the most amazing views of the park as well as the church with Thorpe Cloud in the distance. This is one of the most magical views around.
1.5 miles – Polly’s tea room – Milldale – This is a hole in the wall shop! No tables… just go and sit by the river
Really lovely ‘pit stop’ on the rive dove, half way point to home if walking down to the River via Halldale then on to Milldale.
It’s a great little circular walk, easy downhill on the way and then an uphill climb from Milldale to home! From the tops there are stunning views so well worth doing this walk from the farm. You can stop off for hot sausage rolls, cobs, Ice cream, hot and cold drinks etc. Plus you’ll get to feed the ducks on the river, its fun!
1.5 miles – Wetton Tea rooms – walkable and next to the Royal Oak and by the church. They work together with the Pub so if one is closed the other is open. Just ask for Ian and Julie and say you are staying with us, they’ll look after you. Julie makes homemade cake, and this is served with scrumptious afternoon tea. Also great for breakfasts and if you call in advance they will cook and serve you breakfast …..
1.5 miles The Royal Oak at Wetton – 01335 310287 www.royaloakwetton.co.uk
The Royal Oak is a lovely country village pub, very welcoming and children friendly! It is an easy walk from the farm 1.5 miles on foot. (2 miles by road). Please ring and say you are staying with us, they are happy to book in large groups from the farm but because it’s a big order it may be better to pre-book as it gets busy with walkers at the weekends.
1.5 Miles – The Izaak Walton Hotel – Dovedale – Ilam – Shura on 01335 350981
Another easy and walkable pub, though it says it’s a hotel the bar area is welcoming to all. The Izaak has a great Pub as well as serves afternoon tea on the lawns overlooking Thorpe Cloud and Dovedale. Please say we have sent you J
1.5 miles The George at Alstonefield – 01335 310205 Graham Pre booking is a must at the George, If your group is large then you would have to book the upper floor of the Coach House, to the rear of The George, this is an intimate space for up to forty guests and there is an additional charge.
Beer is from Marston’s Brewery. There are many good walks to Alstonefield from here; one of the easiest routes is to walk to Milldale via footpaths from the farm, then up the old road past Polly’s “hole in the wall” tea room at Milldale to Alstonefield. The pub is in the centre of the village.
3.0 miles – The Old Dog at Thorpe – 01335 350990

4 Miles – Cottage Delight Foods On the way to Leek on the A523 you will see a restaurant on the left. It is the new cottage delight shop and restaurant and the food is excellent. 6 Miles – Ashbourne: The following takeaways and Restaurants are in Ashbourne. However Ashbourne has about 15 pubs as well as lots of little café’s and coffee shops. Church Street is dedicated to Antique shops and there are many boutique shops hidden in little cobbled alleyways.
Impromptu – on Church Street. (Our favourite)
This is a little café come French restaurant nestled next to the pottery painting shop and surrounded by antique shops. However it is our favourite and the food is amazing. All home cooked on site and if you are in Ashbourne one of the best café’s around.
The Flower Shop Café – Market Place
The little tea room is in the market place and every plate, cup and saucer is vintage! It has a lovely feel with lots of yummy cakes. It is great for sitting and watching the world go around.

Indian Restaurant – Bengal Cottage, 9 Compton Street Ashbourne DE6 1DA Tel 01335 348282 (No alcohol license)
A better takeaway than restaurant, will possibly deliver to the farm but you’d need to ring to check. If they are busy they won’t, otherwise if your order is large enough they will. They always add something to the order for a special treat. It is a little less traditional and if you eat there you have to bring your own drinks.
There are other pubs locally (please call me for details) There is also Trip Advisor!
