Cameron Jack - Hog Roasts – Buffets – BBQ’s – Dinners  - Canapé’s – Puddings - everything
Tel: 07584 200 567 email sales@hotroasthogs.co.uk www.Hotroasthogs.co.uk http://sa8529.wix.com/hot-roast-hogs

Cameron comes very highly recommended; he is so good that I used him for my own birthday party …. We painted the pig Gold (don’t ask!) genuinely he is such a lovely person and will endeavour to achieve what you ask. Many of our guests book Cameron and he is so good so I recommend you book early! Cameron mainly caters for larger groups, Cottage BBQs and Weddings, though has branched out more since coming to the farm a few years ago with his big pink barrel that looks like a pig and cooks a pig! Or anything that you would like!
So not only is he one of the best Hog Roasts around, he also does buffets, Canapé’s and puddings, he will provide the whole caboodle. Extremely reasonable and if you book a tasting you will come back for more I promise you. Cameron goes out of his way to make you feel special, not only will you love his food but also his amazing puddings J His attitude to everything is relaxed but he delivers 100% every time.

Sarah can either leave them with you to serve and warm when you arrive or cook them here at the farm. Sarah also provides children’s meals and has a happy relaxed air which you will find expressed in her amazing food.

Casterne Hall  – Caroline Hurt - Phone:01335 310489  www.casterne.co.uk  email mail@casterne.co.uk
Private Dining at Casterne Hall is an experience not to be missed. The attention to detail here is everything and the setting is stunning, a miniature version of Downton Abbey, only at Casterne the films Far from the Madding Crowd and the 1983 adaptation of Jane Eyre were filmed here. Caroline caters in the house for 22 guests and her food is amazing.

PUB’s, Restaurants & Tea Rooms!

We have lots of pubs within walking distance of the farm (though there are many more) as well as a couple of hotels Tea Rooms. Plus the Youth Hostel at Ilam Hall has a bar.  Please say you are staying here and you will be treated really well. I am happy to book for you; with large numbers it is preferable if you book in advance, to avoid disappointment.

1 mile - The Watts Russell at Hopedale. Bruce and Christine 01335 310126. www.wattsrussell.co.uk
Slightly less than 1 mile, between Stanshope and Alstonefield - Turn Right out of the Farm Drive, or walk to Hall dale and down into Hopedale where the pub lies.

Bruce and Christine are very welcoming and will happily cater for large groups, book if you can but you can also turn up (if they are open!) The pub is a little quirky and rustic! It is a free house and beer is sourced locally. Bruce cooks all his food from scratch and if you are fussy with your food then he will accommodate you as much as he can. Though he is not a pie and chips person! The pub sometimes closes early or is not open! If you ring in advance then he will definitely open for you and they are quite happy for you to “take over” the pub.

1 Mile – The Manifold Tea Rooms at Ilam. Open daily most of the year call for details 01335 350245
Manifold Tearooms at Ilam Park sells a wonderful array of food and drink. If you sit outside you have the most amazing views of the park as well as the church with Thorpe Cloud in the distance. This is one of the most magical views around.

1.5 miles The Royal Oak at Wetton – Ian on 01335 310287 www.royaloakwetton.co.uk
The Royal Oak is a lovely country village pub, popular with the locals and very welcoming, its easy to walk to and about 1.5 miles on foot. (2 miles by road).  They can pre order large meals for you or even act as a take away!

A Free house with good beer as well as being a family pub (so you can bring the children). They have a children’s menu and serve chips! (Why children will only eat chips I don’t know!) Of course if you’d rather they ate carrots broccoli and pureed peas! Then try the Watts Russell! (I love peas)
Ian is happy for you all turn up whatever the number, for good meals and or Sunday lunch. If there are a lot of you please just ring to say you’re coming as it gets quite busy in the holiday period (in fact it best to ring and book) . Ian is happy to reserve a table and the pub has a great conservatory area for large groups. If you ring Ian may email you a menu and ask for your order early so that food is ready for when you arrive.
It’s a great walk with a pint at the end …To get there via walking,  Just go over the road, follow the track, keeping the neighbours farm on your left and through the gates (past our “well” which feed the stream past the house) you will then pick up the footpath. Keep the wall on your right going straight up the hill until you come to a copse of trees and then you will pick up the old road (not used) that will take you straight into Wetton. If you turn left at the copse of trees you will go past the old mines and pick up the longer route with stunning views and foot path leading right from the Heritage trail ( this has stunning views across the manifold river) .

1.5 miles The George at Alstonefield – 01335 310205 or e-mail emily@thegeorgeatalstonefield.com
Pre booking is a must at the George.
The pub is quite small and is not good for children though it does get booked very quickly and the food is excellent. It is more of a gastro pub . There are many good walks to Alstonefield from here; one of the easiest routes is to walk to Milldale via footpaths from the farm, then up the old road past Polly’s “hole in the wall” tea room at Milldale to Alstonefield. The pub is in the centre of the village.

1.5 Miles – The Izaak Walton Hotel – Dovedale - Ilam  - Shura  on  01335 350981

The Izaak has a great Pub as well as serves afternoon tea on the lawns over looking Thorpe Cloud and the Dove. Please say we have sent you

3.5 miles. – The Manifold Inn Hulme End – 01298 84537 http://www.themanifoldinn.co.uk

3.5 miles - The Old Dog at Thorpe – 01335 350990

4 Miles The Staffordshire Knott – Sheen Tel: 01298 84329 www.thestaffordshireknot.co.uk
We go here to meet friends and it is a regular for New Years Day Lunch every year. Pub with lovely atmosphere and great food but it is a little quirky

4 Miles – Cottage Delight Foods

On the way to Leek on the A523 you will see a restaurant on the left. It is the new cottage delight shop and restaurant and the food is excellent. It feels as though you are going into a motorway service area at first but then you can browse in the shop and take home lots of cottage delights!

6 Miles - Ashbourne : The following takeaways and Restaurants are in Ashbourne. However Ashbourne has about 15 pubs as well as lots of little café’s and coffee shops. Church street is dedicated to Antique shops and there are many boutique shops hidden in little cobbled alleyways.

Impromtu  - on Church Street.
This is a little café on church street next to the pottery painting shop and surrounded by antique shops. This is our favourite and the food is amazing. All home cooked on site and if you are in Ashbourne one of the best café’s around.

The Flower Shop Café – Market Place
The little tea room is in the market place and every plate, cup and saucer is vintage! It has a lovely feel with lots of yummy cakes. It is great for sitting and watching the world go around.

Benny’s Pizza - Local Takeaway (Does other food other than Pizza) 21 Compton street, Ashbourne  DE6 1BX Tel 01335 346665
Benny’s Pizza is situated in the Compton area of Ashbourne, near Sainsbury’s. They are very accommodating and will deliver if the order is large enough. Italian family who have that flair and make you feel like your order is the only one in the world!

Fish and Chips – kebabs -  Market Place, Ashbourne   DE6 1EU, Tel 01335 344780
This is an extremely good takeaway in the middle of Ashbourne, they will deliver If the order is high enough.
We’ve used this Fish and Chip shop many times for cottage guests as well as late supper weddings at the end of an evening or even the main course, and it is very popular. They’ve delivered over 100 portions and they are still hot and it’s lovely for something a little different!
Ashbourne Market place Fish and Chips also deliver to the farm for free if the order is large enough from 15 persons.

Chinese – Dragons Nest, Market Place Ashbourne DE6 1EU - 01335 300546 http://dragonsnestashbourne.co.uk
This is an excellent Chinese restaurant with take away service. They will deliver if you give enough notice and the order is large enough. Everyone uses them.

Indian Restaurant – Anaya, Dig Street Ashbourne DE6 1DA Tel 01335 300021
This new Indian restaurant and is getting great reviews. We’ve eaten there a few times and you will not be disappointed. It was great. They can also and cater for larger groups and deliver if your order is large enough.
A stunning restaurant, very welcoming and the food is amazing.

Indian Restaurant – Bengal Cottage, 9 Compton Street Ashbourne DE6 1DA Tel 01335 348282 (No alcohol license)
A better takeaway than restaurant, will possibly deliver to the farm but you’d need to ring to check. If they are busy they wont, otherwise if your order is large enough they will. They always add something to the order for a special treat. It is a little less traditional and if you eat there you have to bring your own drinks.

There are other pubs locally (please call me for details) There is also Trip Advisor!

Parking and Travel

TRAIN - Derby is the nearest Mainline Station from London St Pancras and takes 1.5 hours on the Train. There are buses to and fro regually from Ashbourne, we are 6.5 miles from Ashbourne. Therefore you will need to either get someone to pick you up or get a taxi (details below)

We live in The Peak District National Park there are a lot of holiday visitors on our roads and the Highways prefer we don't add any more! Therefore we have put in place a dedicated Travel plan which must adhered to as it is part of our planning conditions.

For those guests staying in the cottages we reasonably expect you to have 12 cars. We have parking for more and this is on our travel plan which covers our events. Included in the booking is a parking plan as well as a layout. Please contact us if you require further parking.
For events and weddings please see further Travel and Parking arrangements below

At NO time will our neighbours allow parking on their property or upon the drive or verge adjacent to their property.

Please make guests aware that we are Lower Damgate Farm

Warrington’s Coaches of Ilam Tel: 01335 350204 info@warringtonscoaches.co.uk  www.warringtonscoaches.co.uk

We only use Warrington’s coaches to ferry our guests to and fro.  They are a local company based in Ilam; they are very reasonable and know the area and all the local accommodation extremely well and they are only a mile down the road, which is good for the environment and our ethos and saves you or your guest’s money. However to be honest we have had such good feedback and recommendations  from our guests that it just wouldn’t be right to use anyone else for general transport and they are very reasonably and per person much less than a taxi.

Setting up, taking down and leaving the venue clean and tidy after all events is the responsibility of the hirer. We are a “DIY” Do It yourself venue and the policy is “leave it as you find it”. I will try and be at your event for the whole weekend ensuring that everything goes to plan and a hidden support if you have need of anything, If for any reason I cannot be here, please be assured as I use professional and trained staff that are familiar with the farm and know how it works.  You will find that having us on site for your day helps you enormously and takes the pressure off you and your family so you are not running around trying to find and sort everything.

There are normally 5 staff plus myself and family on site during event days and my staff are available for 10 hours from 1.30 to 11.30pm (or by arrangement so please let me know as soon as possible what time your event starts) We will help prepare and serve welcome drinks, clear tables, wash up and ensure that everything would be as you wish it for your afternoon and evening. We do not help catering unless by prior arrangements though if needed we will help with any cold food you bring and lay out cheese, cakes etc. By the end of the evening we will have done as much as possible to lighten the load for clearing up the following day.

Where to have your Ceremony

We do not have a wedding licence at the farm. However you can have a Natural Blessing at the Farm as part of your package and details of two celebrants who offer this service are below: If you do choose to hold your ceremony here in this manner, you can have it where you like, even at the very top of our hill with the stunning views this offers.  The legal part takes 20 minutes in your local registry office with two witnesses either on the morning of or a day or so before your Ceremony. You will first have to give your registrar Notice that you intend to marry, and then make arrangements with the registrar for the date and time of your registration as soon as possible.

Below is a list of some local venues where you can have your ceremony and return to the farm for your reception.

If you are marrying at a venue such as Beechenhill or Ilam Hall you will need a registrar from Staffordshire moorlands and the details are:  Registrar Monday - Friday 08:00 - 18:00 Saturday - 09:00 - 13:00
registrarsenquiries@staffordshire.gov.uk Tel: 0300 111 8001

Alternatively there is a registrar in Ashbourne or Ashbourne Registry Office which is part of Derbyshire Dales

Town Hall Market Place Ashbourne DE6 1ES. The registrar has moved into the new library, however you can still have your service in the Town Hall, this is an elegant Victorian building offering a graceful backdrop for special occasions. There are two marriage rooms offering space for up to 35 to 150 people

Ashbourne Library, 2 Compton, Ashbourne DE6 1DA Tel: 01629 533969 or 533985 for Superintendent Registrar email: ashbourne.registrars@derbyshire.gov.uk

Opening times. To give notice of marriage or civil partnership, marriage or civil partnership enquiry, Monday and Wednesday, 10am to 12.30pm. All appointments must be pre-booked.

There is also Leek Registry office – Staffordshire Moorlands.
And Buxton, Matlock and Bakewell Registry offices – Derbyshire Dales

Ilam Hall Youth Hostel – Set in the grounds of the National Trust Park of Ilam – 1.5 miles in the centre of the village of Ilam – 01335 350212

Ilam Hall is set in a stunning setting. The Hall is the Flagship property for the YHA and encased within the National Trust surroundings and an idyllic place to hold your ceremony. They also do weddings themselves (so the option is yours) and we would rather be happy wherever you go then feel you had compromised your day. The Hall is also nestled next to Ilam Church with the river running 50 yards away. I held my 40th there before we finished the barn and it has a special feel to the property.

Izaak Walton Hotel1.5 mile via road.  Contact the Manager, Shura on 01335 350951
The Izaak Walton has recently changed owners and is a lovely hotel and great for ceremonies or receptions though very different from us, it is well worth a look. Please say we have recommended you. If you would prefer an easier wedding there, then please enquire for that too. However they also just do ceremonies.

Casterne Hall – I mile as the crow flies, 2.5 miles by road – Call Charles & Caroline Hurt TEL:  01335310489, EMAIL: mail@casterne.co.uk
Casterne Hall is also close to us and lovely neighbours. You can walk to the Hall via a used track just up from the farm. However to drive is slightly longer as you have to go down to Ilam, turn right and then back up the hill paralleling us via a private drive. The views are breathtaking and it is a lovely venue for a reception, however they also just hold ceremonies. Perfect if you are looking for a smaller wedding, the size to accommodate both Casterne and Beechenhill.
If you decide we are too big or not right for you, then both of these venues are lovely.

Local Churches  -

Ilam or Alstonefield Churches - Clerk to the Vicar Marion Beloe on 01335 310253 or email mbeloe@gmail.com
Getting married in one of our local churches is actually a simple procedure, if you have any connection with a Christian church in any way and are happy to visit on a monthly basis for banns being read (Ilam only has a monthly service) then our vicar is happy to marry you.

Ilam Church and Alstonefield Church are both just 1.5 miles away.
Ilam Church is within our parish and I think one of the prettiest churches in England, It is an Anglo Saxon church and there are three Saxon crosses in the churchyard. There is also a triagonal section where Jess Watts Russell (who owned Ilam Hall) built a monument to honour his wife Mary. The church is just set back from the River in the grounds of NT Ilam Park with the views of Thorpe Cloud (entrance to Dovedale) in the distance; this church is an idyllic place to hold your wedding ceremony and gives the feel of being set in the times of Pride and Prejudice.

Alstonefield Church is larger and grander but nerveless a lovely old English village church and you can often hear the bells peeling away on a Sunday. Our vicar who resides over both the churches above lives in the New Rectory just next door to this church.
Both churches are stunning and well worth a visit; however most of my guests marry in Ilam Church.

There is a Qualifying criterion for getting married in church if you can show the one of you:

  1. Has at any time lived in the Parish for a period of at least 6 months or

Was baptised (Christened) in the parish concerned or
Was prepared for confirmation in the parish or
Has at any time regularly gone to normal church services in the parish for a period of at least six months **

  1. That one of your parents, at any time after you were born:

Has lived in the parish for a period of six months or
Has regularly gone to normal church services in the parish for a period of six months **

  1. That one of your parents or grandparents was married in the parish

** If you attend the Parish church’s usual services at least once a month for a minimum of six months you will qualify to get married in the church you attend the services in. However at least one of the couple, must have been baptised in the Christian faith to qualify.

Blore Church (2m) – Rev Arthur Hack (it may also be possible for Arthur to marry you at Ilam Church as this is his old parish) 01538 309844 Blore church is part of a tiny hamlet with views across the tops to Dovedale.

They're not 'alternative', nor do they involve beards/chanting/robes or anything that would make your grandmother uncomfortable. They're simply the wedding ceremony everyone should have a chance of having...and they're catching on...fast. Hannah is always happy to hear from anyone who would like to find out more.

Relations with our neighbours is very important as we are mindful of others living in our rural community. Music is an important part of a wedding but we ask that you be considerate to the type of music you provide. We pride ourselves on being a rustic relaxed venue so whilst music is welcome; we ask that it’s not played into a Sunday and no outside music unless unplugged!

We have an Electronic Orange Noise Limiter Installed

Bands must finish by 11pm and Amplified Music by 11.30pm, Drink up and winding down time is until midnight and hopefully you won’t turn into a pumpkin before you leave!
We welcome Ceilidh’s Bands and Disco’s but If you are looking for a loud head banging, rock, heavy rave type event or even a full blown Jazz band we are not for you as we have an electronic noise limiter installed. This is set to the councils specifications. Most Bands, good Dj’s as well as folk or Ceilidh bands do not have a problem with the limiter.

If you are using someone who is not on our list, please inform us and give us their details so we can contact them and go through the rules set in our Terms and Condition. Ceilidh / Barn Dance / Folk / Irish Music

This group have done many of our weddings and I think get better and better. Fantastically energetic group and will have you all up and dancing. Caller or just folk/Irish the choice is yours and they are very flexible and happy to work with you.
They play as a hobby and this is fun stuff for them and because they enjoy themselves, you do too.  At the beginning they will have everyone up and dancing as well as laughing. They are all music teachers from our local school and honestly they are the best Ceilidh band I know and we’ve had a few here. I’m not just saying it, every event they have is successful and guests have loved them.  I have had rave reviews not just from my guests but locally as well. Because they do this only for fun they are extremely well priced and popular so book them early!

Geoff – The Slippery Hill Boys . Tel Enquiries: 07985 425932, email enqs@grassslipperyhill.co.uk
Website www.slipperyhill.co.uk
I think this group is brilliant – all sorts of music from soulful, close harmony songs to blisteringly fast bluegrass classics and ceilidh) The Slippery Hill Boys are a must for all lovers of Americana. There's quite a bit of swapping around of instruments and they are amazingly fun and inspirational- it's rare to have one highly talented banjo player in a band, let alone two, one of whom doubles as a fine flatpicker. Mandolin and bass complete the line up, with the occasional bit of penny whistle. Magical. But that's not all. With an optional barn dance caller, The Slippery Hill Boys are the perfect barn dance band for any hoedown, hog roast, corporate event, Wild West party or wedding.
Though the guys may think they're in Kentucky, The Slippery Hill Boys are based in North Staffordshire, England.

The Guns – wwwthegunsband.co.uk – Nick Taylor 08452263177
This band is brilliant. Have a look on facebook or on their website to see what they perform. They are all really great guys who love their music and have fun with you as well. Well worth a visit to see what they do.

SpookyFish  - Roger Moggs. Cover Band. Email roger@moggs.org    Tel : Tel: 01332 258324 Mob: 07971 297043
This Quartet Cover band with female vocalist playing Dance Floor Classics are absolutely brilliant. I can honestly say that they keep your guests on the dance floor and are such lovely guys that you won’t want them to stop. They will also organise background music or your own play list music during breaks or speeches and keep the party going till late whilst they clear up and you won’t even notice. This group go that extra distance to make your event special and work with you for your first dance and even try and find music that you think is forgotten. They are local and extremely reasonable, in fact I somehow wonder how they can afford to play for so little but they just love it.

Chris Mapp -  Cover Band-  email chris.mapp@mac.com

Beer and Bar

Whether you are here for a wedding or for a gathering in the cottages, we can order a 72 pint local beer barrel for you at cost. These barrels need to settle and will be delivered a few days before your arrival in the cottages or the barn.  We only use our local beer company Whims Ales who provide Beer for our guests, either in the cottages or for our weddings. In all honestly their range is one of the best for local beers and very popular with locals and guests.  Please email me at carolynwilderspin@icloud.com or 01335 310367 if you would like to order this.

We do only a few weddings at the farm and our ethos is about a relaxed earthy environment at one with the land and scenery (which is quite stunning) therefore we do not charge corkage nor do we allow sales at the bar (in the same way we don’t take a commission) Our weddings are honesty based and we offer you our home and expect respect and drinking behaviour to be considerate to our ethos. With this is mind we provide a licensed staff member to man the bar for you until 11.30pm maintaining the feel of a bar and monitoring overindulgence! You will also need to provide all the glassware (Plastic) for your bar. We do not allow your guests to bring their own drinks and only serve drinks that you provide from the bar or at the table.

If you are having a charity event and would like to raise funds from the bar for good causes, the only way around this is for you to apply for a temporary event licence from Staffordshire Moorlands District Council.

Parking – Coaches and Taxis

We live in The Peak District National Park there are a lot of holiday visitors on our roads and the Highways prefer we don't add any more! Therefore we have put in place a dedicated Travel plan which must adhered to as it is part of our planning conditions.
As more cars are often required to get people to and fro, we use our local coach company Warrington’s in Ilam 01335 350204 who are happy to ferry your guests to and from there accommodation, to your wedding venue, back to the farm and then back to their accommodation at the end of the evening. (This option will not break the bank)  By using this system we find that it works really well as it keeps everyone on site and your guests can drink and relax

Generally they will put on a bus of your choice to reflect numbers, pick them up from their local accommodation, taken them to your place of ceremony, bring them back here to the farm and then later pick them all up again by midnight and taken them “home”  in a number of shuttle runs. This takes the stress out of driving for your guests and as an added bonus they are very helpful and accommodating.

We also have a few items that we hire for charity like 180m of beautiful Bunting, Table decorations and candles that you look very real as well as a few other items which include Oblix patio Heaters which look stunning when lit, and indoor gas heaters for cooler nights. We can also provide wood for our fire pit and Gazebos etc, Disco lights and a small portable speaker with a mic as well as 6ft benches if you would rather use these than the chairs.

We cannot provide everything, though we are collecting and it is often nice to pass these gifts on like jam jars or even an arch for standing under etc, so please ask if we can help as we can supply some of these items for free which will hopefully keep costs down for you. Please also let us know if you would like to donate anything or even sell anything as it is lovely to be able to provide added extra for our guests.

Our neighbours (only quarter of a mile south of us) at Beechenhill farm provide just that experience for you. They produce unpasteurised organic milk and cheese (feta style) on their farm. They have a producer licence that allows them to sell milk from the farm, and it goes through extra tests. Go-Ape: Buxton. Website: www.goape.co.uk or  Tel: 0845 643 92 15.
You need a head for heights with this one and I did it with my 14 year old under duress and then went back for more. I loved it. You climb up into the trees and attach yourself to zip wires. Under 14’s need to be accompanied by an adult ( hence having to go with Reuben) The idea is to get from one end of the park to the other without touching the ground and using muscles you didn’t realise you had, you’ve seen monkeys do it, well that’s about it you become the monkey! The final highlight is flying through the air on a zip wire, exhilarating.

Sticky Fingers – This is a shop in Ashbourne (12 Church Street) which does ceramic painting and has a craft studio. 01335 4108001 enquiries@stickyfingers-parties.co.uk
This is incredibly good fun and a great way to spend your time with your children or just friends. My children love going here and will spend hours painting their own pot or creating a “masterpiece” of some sort of construction! There is also a tea room in house with fabulous cakes.

Alton Towers : 15 minutes away - Theme Park: Open March to mid November.  Web: www.altontowers.com
My children go to Alton Towers all the time and never tire of it...rides ranging from scare thrills to tea cups and you will definitely get wet on the water rides...Sea Life centre is also there now and has a lovely display of sharks! We have been going since my children were little and the rides cater for tots to teens/adults and if you don’t like the rides you can meander around the beautiful cultivated grounds and park, though you may hear a lot of screaming in the background from the hoards of people who are there for the thrill rides, my little tykes included. The largest and most famous theme park in the country is just down the road and your children will never forgive you if you don’t take them.......just don’t tell them its there. If you do go I suggest you book your tickets online as it will save you a fortune.

Alton Towers : Water Park Caribbean lagoon –  www.altontowers.com
Part of Alton Towers above though situated in the Splash landings Hotel away from the theme park.  It is a little like oasis, water world or centre parcs and is like a tropical island with lots to do both inside the dome and out, swim wear is a must. Splash landings claim the longest water ride in the country as well as flumes and water rapids. The hot tub is nice.

My friend whose brother plays professionally took me around and taught me how to play. Worth giving it a go with great rates for larger bookings... when you ring them say where you are staying and remind them that last time I did this at Melanie’s Hen Party I got stuck in a hole on top of a mountain..Now how can I be in a hole at the top of a mountain!

We often find that on a wedding weekend a BBQ is easy and you can get anyone to cook a Barbie! Richard Hobday from Peak Farm Butchers lives in Alstonefield and often delivers brilliant BBQ food to the farm. Call him on 01335 310066 for details.

Please note that no more than an additional 16 guests can join you onsite at the farm either the preceding or following day. This is perfect for those staying across the road at winnow barns as they can join you here with us for the duration of your stay.

There is lots more to do whilst at our farm, like walking straight from the cottages without the hassle of finding a parking space or enjoying the splendour of Chatsworth or one of the many National Trust properties around. Please visit National Trust Ilam Hall with its Tea Rooms just a mile down the road and the National Trust have activities most weekends at Ilam.

At Milldale along the Dove, only a mile and a half’s walk from the farm, you will find the hole in the wall tea room, great for grabbing a cuppa and pasty or icecream and eating it by the river.

Dovedale and the Manifold Valleys have amazing walks and you can find links to these on our website WWW.Damgate.com

Please also look at our Facebook page and add your photos and make comments or leave interesting to-dos for other intrepid guests.

We also hope you will just enjoy the ambience of the farm and relax in the garden or on the decking areas with a glass of wine or chilled juice..... you are welcome to  picnic in the fields and make use of the 20 acres of farm grounds we have with the farm.

There is also our Forever Farm – we have rescued farm animals on site and you might like to go and greet the alpacas and goats, or give the ponies and Horses apples, though the goats might like some too and the alpacas will just look at you bemused!

Please collect eggs (if there are any left!) Straight from the hen house, and you are welcome to feed the ducks and geese

..........but whatever you do at Lower Damgate Farm enjoy yourself and have fun.........

Thank you and we hope you have a wonderful time.

With best wishes Carolyn
